Class access codes

Give every student a random access code to use on aimodes.ai instead of their name. aimodes.ai keeps their quiz answers, case submissions and AI conversations under a pseudonym. The list that says which pseudonym is which student stays on your computer, and you put names back on the results there.

How your students' names stay off aimodes.ai

  • This page runs entirely in your browser. Your roster is read from your file, and nothing on this page sends it anywhere.
  • Codes are random, not made from names or emails. A scrambled name can be unscrambled by trying every name on a class list; a random code cannot.
  • aimodes.ai would receive only a fingerprint of each code and its pseudonym. Use “Show what aimodes.ai would receive” below to check.
  • The list is saved in this browser's local storage, not in a cookie, because cookies are sent to the website with every request.
  • What students write can still identify them. Ask them to leave names, IDs and employers out of the conversations they submit.

You can create classes, print codes, back up and put names back on results files today. Connecting codes to the quiz, the case activities and conversation submission is the next step, and is not switched on yet. Codes you make now will keep working once it is.

1. Create a class

Upload your LMS roster as CSV, or paste names one per line. A header row with Name, or First Name and Last Name, is recognized. Other columns such as email are kept on this device with the name and never used for anything else.

2. Hand out the codes

No classes on this device yet.

3. Put names back on results

Choose a results file exported from aimodes.ai. Every pseudonym from this class gets a name column beside it. The file is read and rewritten in this tab and saved to your computer; it is never uploaded.

4. Back up and move devices

Your classes live only in this browser. Clearing site data, or switching computers, loses them. A backup is encrypted here with your passphrase before it is saved. Nobody, including aimodes.ai, can open it without that passphrase, and it cannot be reset.
