Teach the model
Everything you need to teach the AI Engagement Model: slide decks you can edit, readings to assign, a complete case kit, and the quizzes and activities to run in class. The decks and readings are free to use and adapt with attribution.
Slide decks
Editable PowerPoint files. Cut, reorder and rebrand them for your course.
Eight Ways to Think With AI
The full model overview, 58 slides: the eight modes, the tiers, the layers and the evidence. Take what you need for a lecture or a workshop.
AI Engagement for Lifelong Learning
A 22-slide faculty session on teaching students to use AI in ways that build skill rather than erode it.
Using AI in Academic Research
A 30-slide faculty session on research workflows: AI does the labor, you keep the judgment.
Readings and handouts
PDFs to assign, with Word versions where you may want to edit.
Learning with AI: A Student's Complete Guide
A reading to assign before the first class on the model.
Student Guide to AI-Assisted Learning
A shorter, practical guide students can keep open while they work.
Faculty Guide to AI-Assisted Research
The companion to the research deck, for colleagues and graduate students.
Formation tree and prompting brief
Two one-page handouts: how the layers build on each other, and how to prompt in each mode.
The Cabana case kit
The Incentive Trap: a complete offline version of the Cabana case. Teams analyze a synthetic dataset with AI, submit a recommendation, and then the reveal shows what their AI use did to their judgment.
Participant packet
The case brief, dataset, data dictionary, submission worksheet and reflection. Safe to hand to students: no answer key or reveal.
Instructor package
The participant packet plus run-of-show, scoring key, reveal and debrief guide, and an editable debrief deck. Only for signed-in instructor accounts, because students who see the scoring key before the reveal lose the point of the case.
Version 1.0.0-rc2 is in final review and not yet available to download. To run Cabana live now, launch it from the activities library.
In class
The walkthrough, quiz, activities, access codes and scales, all free on this site.
The walkthrough
The whole theory in twelve short steps with a check on each. Assign it before class, or project it and work through it together.
Theory quiz
A scored quiz on the model that students can take on their own. Running it for a class under access codes, so you see results and aimodes.ai never sees names, is the next step.
Case activities
Live in-class cases across the model, filterable by what each one teaches. Ready cases can be launched now.
Class access codes
Turn your roster into one random access code per student. aimodes.ai keeps results under a pseudonym; the list that puts names back stays in your browser.
Forming student teams
What our studies found about similar and mixed student teams, and a team builder that runs in your browser so names never leave it.
Measurement scales
Every survey item behind the model, with anchors and reliability, if you want students to measure themselves or run a class study.
